I stopped wearing mascara two years ago when I couldn’t find one that lasted. Not only did it save me time in the morning, it made my lashes look really great. do not misunderstand. I definitely miss the mascara look. Since I have blonde hair and fair skin, my lashes are naturally light and the mascara makes a huge difference. You feel “ready” as soon as you put it on.

And a month ago, while writing a story about long-term, time-saving treatments (microblading or keratin treatments), I discovered eyelid lifts and tints. It promises the look of mascara without smudges, smudges or smudges. It seems too good to be true. Of course I had to try it – it’s a study after all!

What To Know About Eyelash Lifts, With Photos

I booked an appointment with Envious Lashes in New York City, where the lash lift is $175 and the tint is $45. Founder Clementina Richardson has been a lash stylist and expert since 2007, and Envious has celebrity clients including Jenna Dewan and Naomi Campbell. Mary J. Blige, so I knew I was in good hands.

The whole process took about an hour, so I sat and relaxed in a chair while the technician started combing my lashes with a silicone curler (each lash is shaped differently depending on length and curl preference). Then she applied her eye-safe perm solution to the base of my lashes. “You can break the bonds in your hair and make it into curls,” says Richardson. She then used a fixative solution to help rebuild the hair in place. The final step was tint, a blue-black dye that was covered from root to tip.

After that, the consultant will guide you on your way with one important piece of advice. Avoid getting your lashes wet for 24 hours. It’s not as high-maintenance as lash lifts and color extensions (never get wet, never sleep directly in the first place), but you should avoid getting wet for the first 24 hours after. It’s your promise, so there’s time for the bond to strengthen. Like a real perm.

Lash Lifts Are The New Beauty Treatment Over Lash Extensions

I understand that these photos can be a bit intimidating, but I’m sure the process won’t be painful. You have to keep your eyes closed all the time, which can be uncomfortable for people with particularly sensitive eyes, but my technician told me that most of her clients end up falling asleep because they are so comfortable.

The shelf life of a lash lift is about 4 to 6 weeks, but the shine only lasts about 4 weeks. My tech told me that the duration is different for different skin types. Keratin treatments can quickly break down if you have oily skin or apply a lot of oil to your face.

Most people’s lashes can tolerate a lash lift, but overtreatment with this type of treatment can weaken lashes over time, says Kunin.

Also, whenever you use chemicals near your eyes, there’s a risk of an allergic reaction, says Carrasco. You may be at risk of dermatitis, a skin condition that causes redness, swelling, and even blisters, especially if the lift solution gets in your eyes or the surrounding skin.

What Is A Lash Lift

To make sure you’re in good hands, find a technician who specializes in periorbital treatments (such as eyelash extensions, tinting, or brow shaping). It’s always a good idea to request a patch test if you’re allergic to beauty products or if you’re sensitive to certain ingredients.

Overall I think this treatment is a win-win situation. I haven’t added a mascara step to my morning makeup routine yet, but there are benefits to looking like I did. If you like a natural look but want to add volume, you can apply mascara. I have told many people who do this and that they do it for an extra lift so they don’t have to use an eyelash curler. You also don’t need to use a lot of mascara to lift and tint.

It’s eyelash extensions. If all the great mascara formulas, lash lifts, and faux lash options on the market aren’t inspiring enough, extensions can be the solution. As with all beauty treatments, it’s important to do your research before booking a treatment. We spoke with Clementina Richardson, celebrity lash expert and founder of N.Y.C.’s Envious Lashes. We’ve found out everything you need to know about eyelash extensions, from what you can pay for.

“Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic, faux mink or silk fibers that are applied strand by strand to the natural lashes,” explains Richardson. As expected, the app is pretty boring. “Extensions are carefully applied one at a time using a specially formulated semi-permanent adhesive that does not irritate or damage natural lashes,” she adds.

How Long Does It Take To Get Lashes Done On Average?

Unlike false eyelashes, where strips or individual lashes are glued to the skin, eyelash extensions are glued directly to the lashes. The result is lashes that are beautiful and thick enough to skip mascara (gasp).

The final look is meant to enhance natural lashes with greater length, fullness, and lift. Whether the look is more dramatic or natural depends on the client, but generally the more lashes applied, the more dramatic the effect. According to Richardson, typical treatment includes 80 to 140 individual extensions per eye ranging in length from 6 to 18 mm. “One size does not fit all,” he explained. “For example, if you have damaged lashes or have natural lashes that are naturally weak and short, it is not always possible to achieve the more dramatic look that clients with strong, thick lashes can achieve.”

Bad news? Depending on the look you want, the treatment will take between 1 and 2 hours. good news? You can use it as an excuse to lie down and relax and take a forced break from your phone.

A good lash stylist will take time, reminds Richardson. “Safety should be your first concern. Finding someone qualified to apply your lashes is a must. Depending on the state, stylists must be licensed,” she advises.

Natural Looking Eyelash Extensions: How To Achieve Them

Costs vary by location, technician and final appearance. At Envious Lashes, a starter set is $105 and “Bombshells” by Mary J. Blitz – $550 and up. Longer lashes take time and money effort, potentially saving thousands of dollars. Annually depending on the frequency of filling.

Avoid water for the first day or so until the adhesive is completely dry. Treat your new lashes with TLC. Don’t curl, don’t apply mascara, and don’t rub your eyes. Basically, avoid anything that requires you to touch your lashes and wash off oil-based products and cleansers. Mascara can be applied only to the tips of the eyelashes, but it is best to avoid applying them all at once. New lashes should be dramatic enough on their own.

Because extensions are attached to the lashes themselves, they last for about six weeks, a natural growth cycle. To prolong the life of your extensions, Richardson recommends using lash conditioner (yes, there is!) and gently brushing your lashes with a dry spoolie brush. He recommends a “charge” every two to three weeks to fill in the lean spots.
